What is the difference between tomato sauce and tomato
ketchup?

In the US, ketchup is prepared with
tomatoes, sugar, vinegar/acetic acid and spices. It is used as a dressing or
table condiment. Ketchup is cold and is never heated as a rule. Tomato sauce,
on the other hand, is made from tomatoes, oil, meat or vegetable stock and
spices. Vinegar is not usually used. Sauces are generally served hot. Most
manufacturers insist that ketchup is made with spices while sauce is generally
made without spices.

Difference between Sauce and Ketchup
Sauce is a universal word. It can be spaghetti
sauce, steak sauce or BBQ sauce, while ketchup is a specific type of sauce.
Ketchup can be a sauce but not all sauces are ketchup. Even if ketchup is a
sauce this can also be used as a base for another kind of sauce. In terms of
making it, sauces can be both. It can be ready made like soy sauce or can be
freshly prepared through cooking. As for ketchups, they are usually bought in
bottles and are ready-made. Sauce can be purely liquid and may contain some
solid ingredients as opposed to ketchup that are much thicker and doesn’t
contain any solid elements.
Sauce and ketchup are very important in cooking
and after preparation. They add flavor and spice to the dish, which makes it
more appetizing.
